At Edgetech, we have always engaged with our local community. We recognise that without support from the people of Coventry and the surrounding area we wouldn’t be the business we are today. As part of Quanex, we have now been able to take our work in the community to the next level, supporting causes which mean a lot to us.
In 2020, as fantastic charities struggled through the pandemic, we raised money for several excellent organisations. This included raising over £800 for Coventry foodbank with Quanex’s help, supporting Macmillan Cancer Research, and helping raise funds for Hope House Children’s Hospice. This achievement is all thanks to the selflessness and dedication of the Edgetech team.
When Edgetech was acquired by Quanex, we soon realised that our goals within the community were wholly shared. Quanex have raised over £15,000 for similar causes worldwide and together we are tackling some of the most urgent issues of the 21st century. Going forward, we’ll be striving to do even more to give back to the community to which we belong.
In 2021 and beyond, we’ll be aiming to take our vision for community support even further. Alongside supporting local, national, and international charities and groups, we will also be honouring our commitment to the community in a much broader sense. We will continue to raise awareness of the importance and urgency of tackling environmental issues and continually develop innovative solutions to tacking these problems.
By continuing to reduce our carbon footprint as a business, we will set an example of how other companies both within and outside the industry can embrace technology. We will lead calls for greater sustainability within fenestration and construction, and lead by example by embracing technological advancements and raising awareness of sustainable solutions.
In 2021, the Quanex Foundation donated over $620,000 to various charities. This included donating $165,000 to the Barbara Bush Literacy Foundation and more than $22,000 to local food banks. Their international operations also donated more than $16,000 to non-profits in the UK and Germany, bringing their direct charitable donations to approximately $636,000 for the fiscal year.
The Foundation also matches employee gifts to qualifying charities on a dollar-for-dollar basis up to $5,000 per employee per year. In Fiscal year 2021, the Foundation matched over $57,000 of employee contributions. During the year they introduced a new online portal for matching gifts, and as a result have seen matching gifts increase more than five times when compared to fiscal year 2020.
